Why choose 100% cotton duvet cover sets?
Cotton is the most breathable natural fibre for bedding, and percale is its classic matte, lightweight weave. Our cotton duvet cover sets are woven at 144 thread count for a cool, airy feel, and pre-washed so they have a relaxed, slightly textured look. Every set is 100% cotton, never a polycotton blend, and OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified.
Yarn-dyed stripes vs printed stripes
Most striped bedding is printed: the pattern sits on the surface of the fabric. Lilense stripes are yarn-dyed, which means the cotton is dyed before it is woven, so each stripe is part of the cloth itself. The result is cleaner lines, a subtle woven texture and colour that runs right through the fabric.
UK duvet cover sizes explained
Choose your duvet cover by the size of your duvet, not your mattress. Our sets follow standard UK duvet sizes:

| Single | 135 × 200 cm | 1 × 50 × 75 cm | Single (135 × 200 cm) |
| Double | 200 × 200 cm | 2 × 50 × 75 cm | Double (200 × 200 cm) |
| King | 230 × 220 cm | 2 × 50 × 75 cm | King (230 × 220 cm) |
Shop by size: single duvet cover sets, double duvet cover sets and king size duvet cover sets.
Choosing a colour
Our stripes come in easy-to-style tones. Grey and anthracite bring a tailored, modern feel; cream and ecru keep a room light; and brown adds warmth that pairs well with natural wood and linen.
Reversible duvet covers: two looks in one
Our reversible duvet cover sets have a different stripe on each side, grey or brown on one side and cream on the other. Turn the cover over to change the look of your bedroom with the seasons, without buying new bedding.
Caring for your cotton bedding
Machine wash at 40°C with similar colours, tumble dry on low and skip the iron if you like a relaxed look. The fabric softens with every wash.
Frequently asked questions
What's included in a Lilense duvet cover set?
Every set includes a duvet cover with a button closure and matching button-closure pillowcases: one pillowcase with Single sets and two with Double and King sets. Pillowcases measure 50 × 75 cm. The duvet and pillows are not included.
What size duvet cover do I need for a double bed?
Most UK double beds use a 200 × 200 cm double duvet, which fits our Double duvet cover. If you prefer extra overhang, many people use a king size duvet and cover on a double bed.
Why does the fabric have a crinkled look?
The cotton is pre-washed before it reaches you, which gives it a relaxed, slightly textured look. It softens further with each wash.
What does yarn-dyed mean? Will the stripes fade?
Yarn-dyed means the cotton yarn is dyed before weaving, so the stripes are part of the fabric rather than printed on top. The colour runs right through the cloth, which keeps the stripes clean and the colour even wash after wash when you follow the care label.
Do I need to iron the bedding?
Not necessarily. The fabric has a relaxed look. If you prefer a smoother bed, iron on a cool to medium setting while the fabric is slightly damp.
How do I wash my duvet cover set?
Machine wash at 40°C with similar colours, do not bleach, tumble dry on low and cool iron if needed. We recommend washing before first use.
How does the duvet cover close?
Our duvet covers and pillowcases close with buttons, which are hard-wearing, easy to do up and give a classic, tailored finish.
Is the cotton OEKO-TEX® certified?
Yes. All Lilense duvet cover sets are OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified, which means the fabric has been tested for harmful substances and is safe next to skin.
Are cotton duvet covers good for hot sleepers?
Yes. Our 144 thread count cotton percale is a light, breathable weave that lets air move freely, so it stays comfortable on warm nights and works all year round.
How fast is delivery?
UK delivery is free on every order and usually arrives within 1–3 working days. If it isn't right, you can return unused items within 30 days.
